Please join us  in Moore BO3 on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 1:15 p.m., for a colloquium given by Kia Nobre, Chair in Translational Cognitive Neuroscience and Director of Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity at University of Oxford. Title and Abstract are below.

Title: Turning Attention Inside Out

Abstract: Around twenty years ago, we inverted the arrow of selective attention to investigate whether and how we prioritise contents within working memory. In my talk, I will present some surprising discoveries revealing unique ways through which focusing operates within the internal mindscape, including a marked degree of dynamics, flexibility, and forward planning. The findings are changing our conceptualisation of working memory from that of a retroactive representational store to that of a proactive pragmatic stage for guiding adaptive behaviour.

The option to join virtually will also be made available, and Zoom link details will be provided at a later date.
