PBS Welcomes New Assistant Professor Mark Thornton

PBS is pleased to announce the addition of Professor Mark Thornton to our faculty in the summer of 2020. Professor Thornton is interested in how we make sense of other people's traits, emotions, and actions, and then how we use this understanding to anticipate how others will think, feel, or behave in the future. His SCRAP Lab studies the mind and brain using a wide variety of tools, including fMRI, text analysis, neural network modeling, and interactive online experiments on MySocialBrain.org. Thornton earned both his MA and his PhD at Harvard University before completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University. He will be teaching PSYC 10: Experimental Design, Methodology, and Data Analysis in Winter 2021 and PSYC 43: Emotion in Spring 2021.
