Research Fellowships

The department has two undergraduate research fellowships available to Dartmouth students.  The Lincoln Filene Undergraduate Fellowship in Human Relations and the Benjamin J. Benner '69 Undergraduate Research Fellowship each pay a stipend of $3,500 to support a psychology or neuroscience major during an off-term (three months) of engagement in full-time research.  For more information, including application instructions and deadlines, see Research Opportunities.


The L. Starling Reid Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference at the University of Virginia will be held on April 13, 2018.  The event highlights outstanding empirical research conducted by undergraduate scholars.  Presentation formats are research talks (15 minutes) or posters.  The proposal deadline is Monday, March 12, 2018.  For more details and to apply, visit the conference website(Posted February 6, 2018)

2018 UCLA Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference (PURC) will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at UCLA and will showcase approximately 150 undergraduate research projects in poster and paper talk sessions.  Undergraduate researchers can visit the conference website to find more information about the event and apply to participate.  Applications are due by March 1, 2018. (Posted January 19, 2018)

The Gilbert lab at Harvard University is accepting applications for volunteer research assistants for summer 2018. The program provides hands-on experience in all aspects of the research process, including idea generation and development, study design, data collection, and statistical analysis. Ongoing research in the lab currently focuses on affective forecasting, altruism, advice, judgment and decision-making, and biases and errors in conversation and social interaction.  Interns work approximately 35 hours per week from early June to mid-August. The ideal candidate is a motivated undergraduate or recent graduate with a keen interest in social psychology.
