"Why Do People Believe Weird Things?" John Pfister Hosts Dowser in Science and Pseudoscience Seminar

For two decades, Senior Lecturer John Pfister has been intriguing students in his first-year seminar course, "Science, Pseudoscience, and Thinking Critically about Human Behavior." In this course he encourages participants to explore topics such as ghosts, alien abduction, astrology, and ESP with an emphasis on answering the question "Why do people believe weird things?."

Recently, Dr. Pfister invited renowned author and dowser, Tick Gaudreau, to visit and teach the seminar students how to dowse.

Pfister said about the experience, "We had a terrific time, and Tick was in his element. Students were still skeptical, but at least they now know what they are skeptical about."
