Ahmad Hariri, Duke University
Please join us in Moore BO3 on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 4 p.m., as Ahmad Hariri, Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University, presents “Neural Signatures of Risk for Mental Illness."
Abstract: I will provide examples of our ongoing efforts to identify and understand individual differences in systems-level brain phenotypes that represent possible biomarkers of risk for mental illness. Specifically, I will highlight how variability in some brain circuits contributes to an individual’s propensity to experience specific symptoms, while variability in other circuits contributes to a more general risk for all common mental illness. I will also discuss how such neural signatures can provide a mechanistic understanding of genetic risk for mental illness.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
