Please join us in Moore BO3 on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 4 p.m., as Wendy Wood, Professor of Marketing and Provost Professor of Psychology at University of Southern California, presents  “Habit in Social Psychology.”

Abstract:  We all think about our habits and wonder why they persist. However, psychology has only recently taken up this question. Research interest in habit has waxed and waned in the history of the field. Currently, habits are a thriving focus of cognitive neuroscience and reward learning. In this talk, I argue that habits are also a component of effective self-regulation and the persistence of behavior change. By understanding folk psychology of habit as well as the mechanisms that trigger habitual repetition, we can help people to more effectively achieve their goals.

A reception will follow outside of Moore 202.
